Ever set a goal for yourself or your team, only to find yourself sitting in
the same exact place days, weeks or months later?
Often, we blame it on time, but the truth is that delays in goal achievement are
rarely due to a lack of time.
Instead, 5 "hidden" barriers tend to be the problem for most of us.
Chances are, one or more of these will sound very familiar...
1. No Plan
2. Wrong Strategies
3. Missing Skills
4. Unsupportive Environment
5. No Accountability
• No Plan
If you haven't committed a plan to paper, chances are, you aren't really following one! No matter how organized or driven you are, having a plan in your head is not the same thing.
Getting the right outcomes requires knowing where you are, where you want to go and how you're going to get there.
When your plan is in writing, you have an effective tool for measuring where you need to be and a constant reminder of how you need to be spending your limited resources of time, money and staff.
• Wrong Strategies
What works for one person to achieve business goals doesn't always work for another.
What helps one company make it big may be of no use to another.
The "X" factor lies within you and your team's unique personality, strengths, weaknesses, beliefs and motivations.
If you think you've been doing all the right things to grow your business, but you continue to struggle, chances are, there's not a good fit with the strategies you've been using.
• Missing Skills
Lots of people go into business or take on a management position without really knowing what the job will entail.
They take on the role because they love the work/the prestige/the freedom/the income... not because they possess the skills to actually do every aspect of the job.
If there are components of your job that make you uncomfortable, that discomfort can play out as avoidance, inefficiency, or poor performance.
• Unsupportive Environment
It's not just the condition of your desk that influences your performance...
... your ability to achieve goals is impacted by all of the people and systems that surround you.
For example,
- How well does your office operate without your direct intervention?
- Do you enjoy going to work in the morning?
- Would you describe your office culture as results-driven?
- Do you have operational procedures/checklists?
- If you were absent for a period, would your business suffer?
Environment may be one of the most powerful influences on your ultimate business success, yet very few people have ever thought through the implications.
Even fewer have created an environment that supports their goals.
• No Accountability
It's not easy to stay focused on what you want. There will always be a tendency to stray from the path. That's just the nature of business and life, in general.
Organizations that consistently hit the mark on their established goals are those that have created either internal or external accountability systems that they rely on to keep them focused and on-track.

There's good news... if you're currently experiencing any of these barriers to peak productivity, you are not alone... and we can help.
